The swimming entry is gradual, water temperature rising through July into August until it reaches that perfect threshold where immersion feels refreshing rather than shocking. Offshore, sandbars create shallow zones where children can stand thirty meters from shore, and the water between bars offers deeper channels for confident swimmers.
Dunes behind the beach support marram grass, juniper, and the occasional pine that has taken root in protected hollows. These provide natural windbreaks and define distinct microclimates across the beach—you can move from full sun to dappled shade simply by relocating your towel. Late afternoon brings the best light: low sun illuminating each ripple in the sand, shadows lengthening from driftwood logs, and the water turning golden-bronze as amber tannins catch the rays.
