Counting the waves…
Counting the waves…
This is beach as landscape, not resort. The dunes rise in gentle swells behind you, stabilized by Ammophila and scrubby juniper, their slopes marked by the tracks of lizards and the occasional fox. The sand is honey-colored, soft underfoot, marked by windrows of dried seaweed that form dark ribbons at the high-tide line. You walk until the beach clubs thin out, their ordered umbrellas giving way to wild shore. The water is warm and shallow, the bottom sandy with occasional patches of Neptune grass. You wade out a hundred meters and it's still only chest-deep, the seafloor gradually sloping. Dogs are welcome here—you watch them bound through the shallows, chasing thrown balls, shaking spray in all directions. Families with toddlers appreciate the gentle gradient; children can paddle safely while parents doze within arm's reach. The beach clubs near Torre Canne offer the infrastructure if you want it: loungers, umbrellas, restaurant service, clean facilities. But the public stretches between and beyond provide free access to the same coastline, the same sand, the same Adriatic. By late afternoon the wind picks up, as it always does on this exposed coast, and you lean back against a dune's leeward side, using the slope as a backrest while the sea grass rattles overhead and the sun descends toward Ostuni's white ramparts on the inland rise.

Lido Morelli is best visited from June through September for swimming and full beach club services. July and August are warmest with lively atmosphere but bring peak crowds and higher prices. June and September offer excellent weather with fewer tourists and better value for accommodation and beach services. Weekdays are generally quieter than weekends throughout summer. Early September combines good weather with post-peak pricing.
Lido Morelli is located near Torre Canne, approximately 10-12 kilometres from Ostuni town centre along the Adriatic coast. By car, follow signs towards Torre Canne on the coastal road; parking is available near the beach, though it can fill during peak summer season. Public transport is limited, making car rental the most practical choice for independent travel. Brindisi airport is about 35-40 kilometres away. Some hotels in the area provide shuttle services. Cycling is possible on relatively flat coastal roads. Taxis from Ostuni are available but costly for regular beach trips. Arriving early ensures better parking.
