You earn Pozzallo with your knees and your balance. The path from the parking area is more suggestion than trail, winding through scrub that scratches your calves and exhales the hot medicine smell of wild herbs. Twenty minutes down and the sea appears in glimpses—first a line of impossible blue, then the whole cove snapping into focus like a lens finding clarity. The water is the color of antifreeze and just as artificial-looking, though it's nothing but limestone-filtered Tyrrhenian.

The beach itself is barely there: a narrow crescent of smooth white stones that clack under your feet and radiate stored heat through your towel. Cliffs rise on three sides, their faces striped in cream and rust where minerals weep through the rock. You swim out and the seafloor drops away suddenly, the stones giving way to sand and then nothing, just blue depth that makes your breath catch. A cigarette boat idles in, spilling tanned bodies who swim to shore, claim rocks, take photos, and leave within an hour.
By late afternoon the cove falls into shadow and the water turns from tropical to temperate in minutes. You make the climb back up as the sun gilds the clifftops, your legs shaking, your skin tight with salt. From the parking area you can't see the cove at all—just scrubland and sky—and already it feels like something you might have dreamed.
