Counting the waves…
Counting the waves…
The cove's embrace is what defines this beach. Rocky headlands buffer the currents and winds that batter the open coast, creating a pocket of stillness where the water laps rather than crashes. The sand beneath your feet transitions quickly to smooth pebbles, then to the fine silt that clouds briefly when you step down before settling again into transparency. You can see your toes at chest depth. Umbrellas cluster near the small beach club, but the cove extends beyond the rental chairs to quieter patches where pine trees lean out over the sand, their shadows offering respite during the hottest hours. The scent of resin mixes with salt air. Children practice swimming strokes in the shallow basin while their parents keep watch from shore, close enough to hear every splash and shout. Fishing boats bob at moorings just beyond the swimming area, their hulls bright against the darker water of the harbor channel. By evening, when the day-trippers have retreated to Tortolì apartments and hotel pools, the beach empties except for a few locals casting lines from the rocks and couples wading in the soft light. The water holds the day's warmth well past sunset, inviting one last swim before you towel off and walk the short distance back to town, salt-sticky and pleasantly tired.

During summer, the beach is well-frequented, providing additional safety. However, as with any beach, supervise children closely and respect posted warnings. The urban setting means help is readily accessible if needed.
