Counting the waves…

The journey to Playa de los Muertos is part of its allure, a steep, dusty descent that weeds out the casual visitor and rewards the determined. But oh, what a reward awaits! As you emerge onto the shore, the sheer vibrancy of the water will steal your breath. It’s a kaleidoscope of turquoise, emerald, and sapphire, so transparent you can see every pebble on the seabed. The beach itself is a broad arc of fine pebbles, smoothed by centuries of wave action. On either end, dramatic, stratified cliffs rise like ancient sentinels, carved by wind and sea into fantastical shapes. These natural sculptures provide both shade and a sense of awe, making the beach feel like a grand, open-air cathedral dedicated to nature's power. It’s a place where the raw geology of Cabo de Gata truly shines. Spend your day swimming in the invigorating, clear water, snorkeling among the rocks, or simply basking in the sun, listening to the gentle clatter of pebbles as the waves recede. The wildness of Los Muertos is its greatest charm; there are no chiringuitos, no sun loungers, just you and the magnificent, untamed beauty of the Andalusian coast. It's an unforgettable experience, a testament to the rewards of a little effort.
