Mid-morning, you'll share the shore with retirees throwing tennis balls for border collies and the occasional van-lifer brewing coffee on a tailgate. The surf breaks gentler than its famous neighbour to the north, peeling across a shallow sandbar that shifts with each winter swell. Bring a longboard or a bodyboard; the waves here reward patience more than aggression.
By late afternoon, the light turns gold and horizontal, setting the spinifex alight and casting long shadows from the pines. There's no cafe, no surf shop, no rack of rental umbrellas. Just a single weather-beaten picnic table under the trees and a dirt carpark that holds maybe twenty cars. The locals prefer it that way, and after an hour on the sand, so will you.
